- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 cup Crisco
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- pinch of salt
- 6 tablespoons ice water
- 1 egg yolk
Mix flour, Crisco, sugar and salt with pastry cutter or 2 knives until it resembles cornmeal. Add ice water and mix well. Take half of the dough and roll it out for bottom crust. Take second half for top crust. After placing top crust on pie, cut slits with knife for ventilation. Add a little water to the egg yolk and brush on top crust. Sprinkle sugar on top.
Optional Crumb Top
Take second half of dough, cut in white sugar, powdered sugar and cinnamon. Cover top with the crumbs.
